Making work better for everyone.

Too many people are unfulfilled in their careers and, as employers, it can be hard to create engaged, productive and happy teams. My goal is to help unlock potential from the “inside out” and make work better for everyone.

So, if you, your team or your business has lost its mojo – you’ve come to the right place. Let me help you get it back.

I’m Nicki Denholm, Executive Chair and Founder of Denholm Associates. We are a leading search and recruitment consultancy based in Scotland, but working across the UK and beyond. The vision for my business comes from a firmly held belief that a happy and engaged team isn’t just a nice to have but is essential for well-being, performance and productivity. And in my 25-year entrepreneurial journey, I have made health, wealth, and happiness central to our culture and everything we do.

I’m also a qualified NLP Practitioner and career coach with 25 years’ worth of experience in helping people find better work and supporting employers to hire and retain the right talent.

Most importantly, though, I’m a people person. Not the type that likes to network at parties, but prefers to sit down one on one and spend time really getting to know you. I’m curious and questioning with a genuine desire to understand what makes each of us tick. Because in getting to know and understand ourselves better from the “inside out”, we are then, and only then, able to truly fulfil our potential.

And as leaders if we can harness the uniqueness of our individual team members – the way they think, what drives them, what they excel at – as well as capitalise on what we have in common – the desire to believe in a better future – and rally the troops to that better future, we are able to build great businesses, with happy, engaged and high performing people.

And, it’s my goal to help make work better for everyone.

Coaching and consultancy

You know that thing in the back of your head saying, “Do something”? Here’s your chance. Let me help you unlock your potential with my career coaching and business consulting services below.

Don’t wait, the time will never be just right.

If you’re waking up on a Monday morning longing to press the snooze button, feeling de-energised or anxious about the week ahead, it’s time to do something about it.

When was the last time you really felt in the zone – you know, that feeling of being fully engaged and absorbed in a task, so that time just flies by? Maybe you’ve stopped noticing?

It turns out that happiness at work (and life in general) is 100% a game of self. The more we learn to understand who we really are, articulate our unique strengths, and apply them in the workplace, the happier, healthier, and more fulfilled we’ll be. After 3 decades in business, I’ve observed first-hand how we can drift further and further away from our true nature and become unsure of our next move. By learning how to unlock your potential, following my six-step framework, you’ll discover the mindset, toolkit, and confidence to get you back in control of your career.

Great leaders recognise the importance of fostering a healthy, inclusive team culture. And equally importantly, they recognise the uniqueness of their team members and their individual potential. To achieve a high-performing team, every single person needs to understand their own unique contribution. Their strengths, how they show up at work, and the impact they have on team dynamics.

They need to be aware and notice when and how they perform at their best. Those businesses that harness their employees’ true potential and find ways to build open, honest, and collaborative environments allowing people to thrive will attract and retain the top talent and outperform their competitors.

I know from 25 years’ experience how hard it is to build a business with so many priorities to juggle. Growth comes from a happy, engaged, and productive team, able to play to their individual strengths and personalities.

So, let me help you bring the best out of your people. It will be the best investment you’re likely to make.

I’ve spent 25 years running my own business.  It’s been full of ups and downs, a rollercoaster of some crazy highs and some really low lows.  I’ve done some things well, and I’ve made some big mistakes along the way, but it’s also been the best teacher in my life. Not just about running an SME business but about myself. And knowing yourself really well – the light and the shade – is, I believe, fundamental to business success.

There is just so much I wish I could share with my younger self that would have saved me years of learning the hard way! I know I can help others turn my decades of experience into days’ worth of valuable insights.

So, if you are an SME business owner and need an experienced supporter, confidante, ideas generator, and, most importantly, someone in your corner to keep you going on those tough days – and there will be – please contact me today at

A clear way forward…

I am now half-way through my coaching course with Nicki and I’ve found it a huge help to me already. There is a very clear structure to the course (guided by Nicki’s book) with exercises that encourage you to reflect on where you’ve been, where you are and where you want to go. Spending time with Nicki on a one-to-one basis is a real privilege. She is very good at listening, empathising and understanding, but also offers very helpful insights so you can better understand yourself.

Nicki is also very encouraging and good at giving gentle advice and suggestions for small things you can try that can make a big difference. I look forward to my sessions with Nicki and in conjunction with her book I am finding a clear way forward to start making changes.

Without this support I would still be ‘stuck’ but Nicki has already given me the power to take control, to think and do things differently, and to take actions that will move my future in a new direction.
